I am leaning towards an aluminum diamond plate for my deck. The thing is I didnt pay enough attention back in junior high shop. (Hey, it was 38 years ago!)

I would redo and redo that I should have just used aluminum for in the first place. I would use aluminum sheeting over plywood any day. Once you are done it will last as long as the boat!

It was $128 at the local welding shop. Depending on how old the boat is, you could end up having more $ in the floor than the rest of the boat!

Preferably diamond plate but I guess smooth surface with non skid would also be an option. This is an 18er with 2 small deck areas between the seat benches so theres not a lot of deck space and not going to be much traffic.

Jul 16, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013. I have the typical 4X8 cheapie trailer for hauling my bikes (2) and the plywood deck that was OE is starting to get a little flaky. Id like to go with aluminum diamond plate. Im sure 1/4 would work just fine but a 4x8 sheet of that is pretty spendy-$300+. Even 1/16 is almost $150 but I dont think it would be strong enough.
