Jun 15, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014. I went through this w/ my boat. I was surprised at the difference in weight of 1/2 un-treated plywood versus the same volume of 1/8 aluminum sheet. I stuck the plywood deck on a scale and did the math for the aluminum using a density value for the alloy.
Aug 03, 2018 +1 Mine has the aluminum deck and rotocast furniture bases. In my experience the aluminums not any noisier. The only wood is the plywood base to the sun deck, which can be easily replaced when the time comes. FWIW I dont think anyone still uses plywood for seat bases. That said, theres absolutely nothing wrong with a plywood deck.
